Another
World of Warcraft
book is
available to pre-order
.
Exploring Azeroth: Islands and Isles
by Alex Acks is set to release October 1, 2024.
Pre-order now at Amazon
Exploring Azeroth with Thalyssra and Lor’themar Theron
Islands and Isles
will be the fifth installment in the Exploring Azeroth series. Like previous books in this series, it will follow in-game characters as they explore a part of Azeroth - this time First Arcanist Thalyssra and Lord Regent Lor’themar Theron, who are finally taking their honeymoon, after delaying it for years. The author, Alex Acks, also wrote the previous two
Exploring Azeroth
books:
Northrend
and
Pandaria
.
Unlike previous installments, which have always chosen a single continent to explore,
Islands and Isles
promises to cover the Broken Isles, Kul Tiras, Zandalar, and the Dragon Isles - the major destinations of three separate expansions. Though this means the currently available map of Azeroth will have been pretty much fully documented in the
Exploring Azeroth
series, this doesn't necessarily mean the series is coming to an end. There's plenty more of Azeroth to explore... perhaps the next
Exploring Azeroth
book, like the next expansion, will take us underground.
Betwixt the sweeping seas of Azeroth, islands and isles await, bursting with splendid treasures—powerful artifacts, enchanted armor, and rousing tales from ages past. With duty delaying their honeymoon for years, First Arcanist Thalyssra and Lord Regent Lor’themar Theron finally resolve to set sail, seeking the perfect setting to celebrate their love. Join the happy couple as they travel to distant shores, scouting for the perfect sunset and learning that it is the journey—and those with whom we share it—that should be cherished most. From the magnificent Suramar and the lush jungles of Zandalar to the rugged seas of Kul Tiras and the verdant beaches of the Dragon Isles, Exploring Azeroth: Islands & Isles is your next step in a charming voyage across Azeroth.
Lord Regent Lor’themar Theron, leader of the Blood Elves, and First Arcanist Thalyssra, leader of the Nightborne, were married
sometime in the three-year period between Shadowlands and Dragonflight
. Since the two are faction leaders, it makes sense that they've been too busy to enjoy a honeymoon before now. It's a good thing they're grabbing the opportunity while they have a chance, because we imagine both will have even more to worry about in
Midnight
, the expansion coming after
War Within
, that will be
set in Quel'Thalas, and involves all the elves of Azeroth
.

Ewww, with these two? Imma pass.
Dude, that's exactly how I feel ... I will never be down with Lor'themar/Thalyssra. It has never sat right with me. As some one else said, they had no chemistry. Nothing against romance in the game ... but yeah, this pair just ... big ew from me too.
It would be nice if they used some other characters instead.
Wowhead I still miss the like button...Still wonder why I am a premium member...I truly hate leaving a post.
Why Does anyone not remember true Warcraft Lore...Lor'themar was always a Jerk...yeah...and Still the whole Nightborn thing... I still cannot wrap my head around that however, Tyrande has a lot of unresolved issues... even so, Thalyssra seemed to have had a decent head on her shoulders to be able to see who this elf is...so ok maybe he changed...Did his best to save his people...hmm...maybe I am lost in the rewriting of lore over and over again.
These two together. I laugh. They have as much chemistry as Thrall and his so-called wife.
Oh, but mixed races marriages are not allowed in this game as of yet, I could be wrong I just have not seen any yet, as I barely log on now due to how unplayable it has become sadly; only same-sex marriages are allowed which I am ok with. Truly am, I am a child of LGBTQ <3
My bad. I am just a not-yet 50-year-old who's been here since the beginning of it all nerd...Not a Boomer...just educated, archivist, and head librarian; and what kept me in the game for so long, even still Paying though I barely log in was due to the Lore from the beginning of Warcraft.
Yet, how dare I go against this Lore which is no longer lore as it changes by the minute.
Please excuse my grammar as I am ill, very exhausted, and already exerted too much energy. Now I must go pre-order a book to add to my library for the sake of the library : /
My poor children will have to pack up this mess when I die; thanks Blizz

It kinda amazes me that they've committed to finishing the Exploring Azeroth series, when every single release seems to garner a lot of scrutiny and controversy.
I almost respect it.
Don't be amazed: The reason is money. And regardless of the criticism C-suite execs only see money to be made.
Made to order content. Pre-orders. Nuff said. The content is not even started yet but they want you to shell out of it since "it is your choice to spend this money or not". Fully well knowing that a certain %of the playerbase is so addicted to this franchise they will buy anything and evrything blizzard. Sick.
No, what is sick is the fact that they laughed their rear end off around the water cooler laughing abotu how in SL they got addicted mount collectors to stand in one place for a whole week for a few pixels. Now, that is funny

Lor'themar made tough choices and Thalyssra did nothing wrong. Why aren't you flinching on the Alleria and Turalyon romance?

I wonder how they will compile so many areas into one book, I hope it will be thick enough. I've always found it a shame that these books are from the point of view of one faction, which limits what can be seen in the book.
I have a few expectations that I would like to see in this book:
- The Horde has completely left Kul'Tiras (we already have confirmation that the Alliance has left Zandalar, so the opposite would be logical) + see the two countries rebuild. It would also be interesting to see the Sethrak Empire's relationship with the Zandalari Empire.
- We could also see the Tortolan, they could also serve as a crossing point for our two protagonists between Zandalar and Kul'Tiras because they are installed in both and they are completely neutral.
- The Moon Guard retook their stronghold after the liberation of Suramar. Perhaps they could make connections with the Kaldorei of Irongrove Retreat.
- Val'Sharah is cured of nightmares and the Kaldorei living there have resettled in the cured regions, it would be really cool if the Kaldorei had taken back Black Rook Hold. Bradensbrook is also interesting, did they establish relations with Restored Gilneas?
- find out if some inhabitants of Nar'thalas have aligned themselves with the Alliance (since it is mages from this group who maintain the Stormwind Portal to the Broken Isles), even if the majority are surely remaining neutral.
- See if the Watchers were able to regain control of their island and the prison.
- See HighMountain heal and perhaps learn more about the fate of Drogbars and Bloodtotems+Riverbend rebuilt.
- Know the future of the Horde and Alliance colonies in Stormheim (abandoned or preserved?). There is also the question of Sigryn and how she rules the region as God-Queen.
- We could also see Suramar little by little taking back its former territories beyond the barrier, especially since now they no longer depend on the well of night (it would be logical for Shal'Aran to become a sacred place)
Moontear that you? Do you have anything else in your head apart from alliance wish furfillment? The Tortollans are loyal allies of Zandalar just like the Vulpera are.

I also talk about the different races of the Horde in these regions, the relationships inside Zandalar between the different peoples (notably the Sethrak who are independent), the reconstruction and future of the Highmountain Tauren (restauration of Riverbend, Drogbar and Bloodtotems), the potential expansion of Suramar outside the shield, the futur of Horde and Alliance colony in Stormheim...
Furthermore, no, the Tortolans are a completely neutral race (except with the naga and those who pollute the waters). Their goal is the accumulation of exotic products, knowledge and stories. This is why we find them throughout the different zones of BFA and even in DF. Besides, the base of the Tortolan faction of BFA is in Kul'Tiras.
Lashk joined the Zandalari council in his personal capacity, but nothing is ever said that the tortolans as a whole join the Horde. It will be stupid for a race seeking trade and knowledge to cut itself off from more than half the world.

The Horde saved their god. They owe use. Just like we brought back Sethrallis, killed Korthek and defeated Mythrax. There isn't a single race on Zandalar the Horde hasn't aided in some way.
